You’re Complex.

That’s not just okay.

 It’s beautiful.

Spirit and Soul Psychiatry

Hi,

I’m Dr. Ekeanya!

Hi, I’m Dr. Nora Ekeanya, DO. I’m an integrative psychiatrist who believes psychiatry is both art and medicine, and that real healing happens when we treat the whole person rather than chasing symptoms or quick fixes.

My approach was shaped by years of working in high-acuity systems including the Veterans Administration, community mental health, emergency psychiatry, and inpatient hospital leadership. I’ve seen firsthand how rushed, fragmented care leaves people feeling unseen, even when they are doing everything “right.” My own lived experience with trauma, healing, and navigating mental health treatment deepened my commitment to practicing differently. In my work, I slow things down, take time to understand your full story, and integrate psychotherapy, medication when helpful, and complementary approaches that align with your values and goals. I don’t aim to help people merely cope with life. I help them move toward clarity, self-respect, and a sense of fulfillment that feels sustainable and real.

I help high-achieving immigrants, caretakers, and culturally diverse adults who are exhausted from holding everything together move out of survival mode and into clarity, balance, and self-actualization.

If you’ve spent your life adapting, translating, providing, achieving, or staying strong for others, your nervous system may be tired, even if your résumé looks impressive.

This is integrative psychiatry for people who are complex, because complexity deserves to be understood not corrected. I offer thoughtful, relationship-centered care that honors your history, your culture, your nervous system, and your capacity to truly thrive.

I specialize in:

  • Care for high-achieving professionals, caretakers, and first-generation or immigrant adults seeking deeper fulfillment rather than mere coping

  • Trauma and stress-related disorders, including PTSD and complex PTSD

  • Anxiety disorders and chronic overwhelm

  • Bipolar disorders

"Nothing can dim the light that shines from within."

Is this you?

Do you look successful on the outside, but feel tense, exhausted, or disconnected on the inside?
Do you carry a constant sense of responsibility, as if everything will fall apart if you stop holding it together?
Do you lie awake at 2 a.m. with a racing mind, irritability, or a tight feeling in your chest, wondering why life still feels this hard when you’ve done everything “right”?
Do you worry that if you are fully honest with a doctor, you’ll be misunderstood, overmedicated, or labeled in a way that doesn’t fit?
Do you want more than coping skills and prescriptions, but you also want a psychiatrist who is grounded in real medical training and not dismissive of your complexity?

Many of the people I work with are high-achieving professionals, caretakers, and first-generation or immigrant adults who have learned how to survive by staying busy, productive, and emotionally contained. You may be the fixer in your family, the leader at work, or the person everyone relies on. You are used to functioning through stress, trauma, and overwhelm, but lately that strategy isn’t working the way it used to. You want clarity, depth, and a guide who can help you make sense of what your mind and body have been carrying for years.

My role is to help you slow down, feel safe enough to be honest, and move from survival into self-trust and fulfillment. We work together to understand what is happening beneath the surface and choose treatments that support real change, not just symptom suppression.
